                              Review

There is simply one word to describe Resident Evil, unbelievable. The graphics are great, as well as the storyline, gameplay, music and sound effects, as well as being capable to scare the crap out of you. If you are looking for a great scary blood and gore game, than Resident Evil is the game for you.

The Resident Evil franchise is well known, having made plenty of them over past years. They are well known for a very long, exciting, scary and puzzling. Resident Evil for the Nintendo Gamecube is a remake of the very first Resident Evil game back on the Playstation. The storyline has been changed a little from the first one but now there are more rooms, much, much better graphics and longer, better gameplay.

First off, the Graphics. They are simply magnificent. I could go on and on for ages just talking about how great the graphics are. Every little detail has been put into every room in every corner, as well as the characters and the enemies. The FMVs are stunning. The enemies move much better than the other Resident Evil incarnations. The dogs on the game look and run just like a real dog, only that they are missing a bit of flesh and need a good home! The zombies make your jaw drop just watching them wonder around they really do look like what a zombie should be. They are missing a bit of flesh here and there and if they are wearing any clothes they are torn and mangled. Their face is the best-detailed part of the zombie body. Their nose is all ripped up, their eyes are cloudy and dead looking and their teeth are all cracked and mouldy.

The surrounding areas are also very well detailed. Every wall, every piece of furniture and the lighting are also extremely well detailed. When you are in a room that there is a fire in, the flames of the fire dance and jump around just like a real fire. The shadows of the fire also dance along the walls, and it really does look unreal. Compared to the other Resident Evil games so far, the graphics in this one makes the other ones look like crap.

Now, the gameplay. Just like all of the other Resident Evil games, there is no shortage of gameplay in this one! For any ordinary gamer, it can take anywhere from 8 hours to 30 hours. You dont just simply go through the mansion and kill anything that moves, but you come across puzzles that can take ages to figure out. Not just the puzzles keep you from running through the game quickly, but you are limited to certain rooms until you figure out a puzzle or find a key. You get to choose out of two characters, Chris Redfield or Jill Valentine. Both characters storyline and gameplay is a bit different. Once you complete the game, you unlock certain extras, such as the once again mode. You can then go through and complete the game with different things. If you complete the game in certain times, you can also unlock even more extras. This will keep you playing Resident Evil for a while even after you complete it.

The music and sound effects suit the game perfectly. The music is creepy, and when you are near an enemy the music goes loud and high. In certain areas and rooms the music changes to suit the area. The sound effects in the game are also top notch. The zombies sound excellent, with their moaning and dragging their feet along the ground. The dogs barks on Resident Evil sound just like a real dogs bark. Their footprints on the ground sound realistic also.

If you have never played a Resident Evil game, you really are missing out on a great series of games. If you are a Resident Evil fanatic or not, I highly recommend this game to nearly everyone. Of course, this game is not meant for young children. Get out there and buy it NOW!

Layout Very simple menus that are easy to navigate.                          10.0

Graphics Superb graphics that make this game look simply                   9.5

unreal.

Camera It is very rare that the camera gets in a position that                  9.5

is annoying.

Control and Gameplay The controlling can take some                   9.0

time to get used to. The Gameplay, though, is great.

Story Great storyline that will keep you wanting to play                          9.5

this game for hours.

Music/Sound Effects/Voice Acting The music                    10.0

is great and fits into the theme nicely. All of the sound effects

sound great. The voice acting has been done very well, and

doesnt have nay annoying voices.

Secrets Plenty of secrets to unlock that will keep you                            9.0

playing the game over and over trying to unlock these.

Interest/Length The storyline is very interesting  and                        10.0

because you dont just simply run about blowing up enemies.

Opinion Resident Evil is one great game. The graphics                          9.5

And it is one hell of a long game.
