Review
Just like Super Smash Bros Melee on the Nintendo 64, SSBM (Super Smash Bros Melee) is a great fighting game that can produce hours of enjoyment. All of Nintendos favourite and famous characters come together to play on the one game, including the most famous one of them all, Mario, as well as Luigi, Link, Bowser, Peach, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Kirby, Captain Falcon and many more.
This time, the one player mode has a lot more lastibility. Now there is the Adventure mode, where you go from area to area defeating whichever Nintendo character is their home, as well as grabbing a lot of free trophies along the way. There is also the All-Star mode of which you will have to unlock it to play it.. And, the classic mode, which is just like the one player mode on the first game. As well as the main 3 games, there is also the Match games, of which you have to do certain things to complete them, the classic old break-the-targets, and Home Run contest, of which you have to try and smash the bag as far as you can. If you dont have any friends around to play with, the one players modes do give a fair bit of enjoyment. It does take a lot longer now to get all of the characters and unlock absolutely everything on the game.
The graphics on Super Smash Bros. Melee arent exactly wonderful, but they are much more improved than the first Smash Bros game. This time, the levels are more creative and move a lot more, such as a venom stage where the ship is moving through a cave, or on Rainbow ride (copied of Mario 64) where you start off on a big ship but eventually having to jump off the ship and make your own way through the stage, You have to be careful not to fall behind and die though. With these new levels, it makes Super Smash Bros. Melee have a lot more lastibility.
Now, if you dont know much about SSBM, you would have noticed that I mentioned trophies earlier on in this review. Throughout the game you have to find and collect over 200 trophies. You can gain coins through the one player games and the two players games of which you can use in a lottery to try and gain more trophies. The more the coins that you put in, the more of a chance you have of getting a new trophy.
Super Smash Bros. Melee has sold extremely well on the Nintendo Gamecube, just like the first one did on the Nintendo 64. If you dont already have a Gamecube, buy one. If you have a Gamecube but dont have Super Smash Bros. Melee, you are defiantly missing out on a great game, so buy it now!
Layout There are several different menus that you need 7.5
to go through to get to your destination, which can sometimes
be confusing and annoying.
Graphics The graphics arent exactly wonderful, but are 7.5
a lot more advanced than the fist Smash Bros game
Camera The Camera is in the same place all the time, 10.0
wheather it be zooming in or out, making it easy to see whats
happening.
Control and Gameplay The controls do take a little 9.0
while to get used to, but once you do, they are like secound
nature. The Gameplay is extremely good when you have a
friend or 3 around.
Story No real storyline, just belt the crap out of each 8.0
other!
Music/Sound Effects/Voice Acting All of the 9.5
music is from Nintendo games, which will be recognisable
to Nintendo fans. The Sound effects are reasonably good.
Voice acting sounds great, except for Mr Game and
Watch which can get annoying quickly.
Secrets This game is absolutely packed full of secrets. 10.0
It does take a while to unlock them all.
Interest/Length Does take a while to unlock all of the 9.0
secrets. It can get boring though if you dont have anyone to
play the game with.
Opinion SSBM is a great game to play, especially if 9.0
you have a group of friends around. The one player game
have a fair bit of length in it, though.
Total - 9.0
